Elzbieta Derlaga is a Polish artist who speaks only Polish and she uses translators for English statements. She is our selected first artist in AI for this museum. While her work began in the field of painting painting she moved into AI as the developments enticed her interest and as she pursued photography. We caution emerging AI artists to understand that there are current copyright issues that exist currently related to AI art and they are responsible for both production and research of related legalities protecting their work.
Our museum has provided Elzbieta’s information fully in her own words relative to her processes.
Elzbieta Derlaga prepared a narrative for our museum using translators and we are including it fully as it relates to developmental information in a new field of media: “For several years, new technologies have been emerging that enable the generation of images by artificial intelligence. One of the many AI generators is Midjourney, which I am currently using. Based on our written description (“image prompt:”), the AI algorithm generates the image. The creative effort of human {beings} consists in inventing and describing individual scenes, portraits, landscapes, etc. in such a way that the generated image resembles our idea and description as best as possible. To achieve this effect, it is worth adding important data, e.g., colors in the image, one or more styles, tools or materials used, backgrounds, location, time of day, etc. Initially, we are delighted with what the AI will generate. Over time, our expectations grow for both AI and ourselves. Artificial intelligence is still learning, and we are learning along with it, so it’s worth experimenting. You should also try other AI functions, such as “blend” or “describe”. When the image satisfies us, additional adjustments or additional processing can be done in a graphics program, e.g., Photoshop. By the way, Photoshop also introduced the ability to generate images based on description, but for now only in Photoshop Beta. Important: Photoshop relies solely on its own graphic assets.”
“The most popular AI to generate images for, among others:
* Midjourney – the best AI image generator
* DALL-E 2 – great image generator based on text
* Canva Al Art Generator – a well established tool for generating graphics
* Craivon – basic free image generator
* Stable dissemination – application with advice search will give Al
* Dream – Al image generator for smartphone
* Adobe Firefly – generator with attached potential
* and of course many more.
Elzbieta Derlaga wrote: “I started my adventure with AI in Midjourney. I use my laptop’s web browser to connect to Midjourney and Discord. I do not use voice commands, I just type the ‘prompt’ of the image I want to get. Writing ‘prompt’ is only available in English.”
