Zinovy Shersher

Born in Russia, the English and Russian speaking artist Zinovy has resided in the USA since 1980. A rare multitalented individual, he is highly educated in both fields, and has outstanding achievements in both music and fine art in Russia and in the United States. He explains his multiple talent-based work which is tied to his particular recognition, “I am also a professional multi-awards winning musician: composer and performer, Voting member of GRAMMYS. That’s why it’s so much music in my art.” His work clearly evidences synaesthetic experience and one of his catalogs clearly references the Sound of Colors. The Artist says, “I want people to hear the music in my paintings, and to see the art in my music.” The artist writes, “I was very touched when, at one of my exhibitions in Singapore, two ladies came to me and said, ‘We hear your paintings.’ ” Zinovy shares: he was influenced by El Greco, Braque, and Picasso among other cubist artists. His work shows their influence particularly in his abstract paintings. One the collectors of Shersher’s artwork, art critic Robert Rotshild, wrote of Zinovy’s talent as a musician and a fine artist, “….. I am happy to have his art in my collection next to Karel Appel, J. Miro, Warhol and other great masters.” Zinovy refers to his style as “Traditional (Cubistic) Modernism.” The main themes in his paintings are music and love. His work includes portraits, and the artist writes to the museum curator, that he has been called, “a painter of the stars.” His portraits are made in his own non-traditional style. Clearly, well received as fine art, stylistic portrait painter, he was commissioned for portraits of Cher, Stevie Wonder and John Lennon. Subsequent to these portraits, Zinovy was commissioned by the Academy of Motion Pictures to create a huge painting entitled “OSCAR-29.” This painting contained the portraits of the first Oscar winners as a special tribute for the 75th Academy Awards. This tribute-based artwork was exhibited at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum for 10 years. Shersher is also known for a significant social contribution as his 2000 square foot mural entitled “We Have a Future” is installed in Downtown, Los Angeles, California. Shersher is honored in various professional listings both in USA in national publications and in international publications worldwide.

Enter the world of Zinovy Shersher!

“I want people to hear the music in my paintings,” says Zinovy Shersher, multi-award-winning Russian-born painter, entertainer, and composer, who was the first fine artist to combine the passion and mystery of music and art. After moving to the United States in 1980 he built his distinctive style and genius, which is a mystical amalgam of spirituality, sensuality, and passion.

“Zinovy Shersher is extremely talented both as a musician and a fine artist. He creates his paintings by blending the elements of elegant linearity, abstracted or cubistic spatiality, soothing and pleasantly harmonious color palettes, and compositions that knit the figures together expressively…”  Robert Rothschild, art critic, collector, Among his many featured works, he created a 2,000 square foot mural entitled “We Have a Future” which earned him numerous awards, as well as the Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles. He was commissioned to do a painting with the portraits of the First Oscar winners for the 65th anniversary of the Academy Awards. In addition to galleries, such as Wentworth Publishing, Dyansen Gallery,  Zinovy was a partner in the Sherberg Gallery in Los Angeles. He was also represented by the R&S Gallery of The Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Hollywood Entertainment Museum.

More than 100 articles and TV and Radio interviews have been devoted to Zinovy. His biography is in the “Encyclopedia of Living Artists in America”, “Who’s Who in Art” and “Who’s Who in the West”. As a successful artist for many years, Shersher’s work can be found in many private and corporate collections in the USA, United Kingdom, Egypt, Russia, Dubai, France, Japan, Italy, and Costa Rica, Partial List of corporations: Bank of America, Best Western Hotel, CASE Museum, Hollywood Entertainment Museum, Avalon Inc, etc. Over the years he collaborated with the finest American and European artists and galleries, whose work has been prized by celebrities from Cher to Elizabeth Taylor, and scored “The Hunt for Red October”.

Zinovy’s sold-out one-man shows, his galleries, and his performances in America and Europe are one of a kind as he creates a symbiosis between art and music. Each excites, and each inflames on its own. When together, the master creates an event! Together, the master creates an exquisite experience, filled with passion, and pathos. It is an unparalleled emotional journey.
